A Brief History of the Server

Back

/bant/craft I - (2017) - Founded by a /bant/ tripfag named “Yuyukow” as /bant/'s counterpart to servers like /int/craft, /pol/craft, and [s4s]craft. The population was huge at this time, with ~40 concurrent players at peak hours, the highest in its entire history to date. Shut down later that same year due to griefing on a massive scale. Entire cities were lavacasted, including Stalingrad, which had dozens of citizens.

/bant/craft II - (2017) - Founded by another /bant/ tripfag, “Bakadee”. Almost nothing is known about it other than that it existed.

/bant/craft III - (2018) - Founded by a user named “Triert”. This was the first “true” iteration of /bant/craft and the start of the current community and server culture. Griefing was heavily frowned upon due to the disasters of /bant/craft I's pseudo-anarchy rules, and instead people began to help each other out. This was popularized further by a Nether Hub which connected many major settlements to each other, making it easy for people to go around to other towns and see what was being built even if they didn't know anyone at that town. Frequent trade and free gifts just to be nice were also stimulated by this, something that would be a staple of later iterations. /bant/craft III was sadly short lived, shut down again after a town was lavacasted by a troll using a hacked client. Triert felt himself unsuited to the role of admin due to the difficulties he had attempting to resolve the situation, and stepped down.

/bant/craft IV - (2018-2019) - Founded by the user “Floridaboi” after he took over for Triert. Debatably the server’s Golden Age, many of its most defining characteristics cemented themselves during this period, including lands, hugs, /kit welfare, shopkeepers, and tiddymaps. The concurrent population often exceeded ~20 users and social events such as auctions were frequent. This iteration came to a screeching halt after Florida got a bit too into the jannie lifestyle and announced that he had been in contant with a user called razzmus, who ran /int/craft, and that he had plans to take on the duty of hosting the long-running server 4craft, which pulled users from all over 4chan. Being relatively small in comparison, the community became worried that Florida would delete /bant/craft in favor of merging it with 4craft, and the decision was made to oust him as admin. Enraged, Florida deleted the map without warning and was promptly kicked from the community. Later, it was discovered that he and razzmus had been sharing pedophilic content on a discord server they were both part of, which only set in stone the community's feeling of no longer wanting anything to do with him.

/bant/craft V - (2019) - Founded by the user “Tuxtla”. This iteration featured a custom map made using editors, allowing for some incredibly unique towns and structures to be built, including Beach Bowl Galaxy and a massive underground dwarven kingdom. Tiddymaps were especially popular during this era and players would often play host to auctions where different maps would be made and sold off. In addition to bringing the server together, this also allowed players to check out other people's builds more easily, or show off their own.

/bant/craft VI - (2019-2020) - Founded by the user “Bitdomo”. This iteration had a greater emphasis on exploration, with a big plugin adding dungeons and a side world which contained a perfect replica of Gensokyo. A second, smaller side world also had a replica of the Backrooms. In addition to the dungeon plugin, larger, hand-crafted dungeons were also present via map editors, and when the opportunity knocked players would band together in raid parties to tackle the dungeons, which contained many challenging enemy placements and difficult terrain. Shut down after now-resolved drama involving a prominent user named “ebin”, which lead to a playerbase split.

Ebincraft - (2020-2021) - Founded by the user “Simply_ebin” along with Bitdomo and a few others after the aforementioned drama. Because the community and culture on this server was very different than the previous iterations, it’s a matter of skub whether it can be considered a true iteration or not and the topic is better avoided.

/bant/craft VII - (2022-?) - Founded by me, along with Henk, Shpee, and Tuxtla, as an attempt to revitalize the server and restore the community. The map is new, the towns are new, and if you haven't joined yet, hopefully you'll be new too!
